Network Rail Plan 50 Foot Masts11.18.37am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 29th Jul 2009 Two big communications masts are being planned by Network Rail to improve communications on the railways. Network Rail are preparing the ground through consultation and Vincent Cable has been alerted to two in the Twickenham area. One is near Twickenham station along the railway track opposite the adult college site. The other is near Hounslow cemetery opposite Edgar Road youth centre. Vincent Cable said: "previous, big, telecom masts have been highly controversial because of the visual impact and some, lingering, fears that there may be health implications". "These two mast sites are quite carefully chosen to be well removed form schools and housing. But I expect there will be some reaction from residents. If there are any worries I hope residents will contact me and I will take the issue up with Network Rail".
