Local Hospital Slammed over Maternity Ward

3.04.35pm GMT Wed 28th Nov 2007

Kingston Hospital was described in NHS (Health Care Commission) survey of patient satisfaction as one of the worst in the country for maternity care.

It is one of 13 London hospitals which were criticised. Vincent Cable, MP, has asked the hospital chief executive for a statement on the report. He said: "in the past it was the West Middlesex which was the butt of criticism. The pressure seems to have switched to Kingston. I am surprised. Kingston hospital is generally popular and its maternity care is heavily over subscribed. I hope the failings will be rectified as soon as possible".
